 Uploaded This story is written by Kate DiCamillo. It is about a girl named Opal and a dog named Winn-Dixie.
 Uploaded Opal and Gloria have the party at night. They decorated Gloria’s back yard with pretty lights.
 Uploaded Gloria taught Opal how to make egg salad sandwiches and her special punch. It is a drink made with different sodas.
 Uploaded Miss Franny came to the party. She brought some Litmus Lozenges.
 Uploaded Sweetie Pie and her mom came to the party.
 Uploaded Preacher came to the party. He wore his good suit.
 Uploaded Otis came to the party. He brought his guitar and Gertrude, the bird from his pet store.
 Uploaded Everyone had fun. They were talking and eating. Then it started to rain. Everyone got wet!
 Uploaded Everyone runs inside the house to get out of the rain. But where is Winn-Dixie?
 Uploaded One of the boys is outside. He waved to Opal. She didn’t see him. She was worried about Winn-Dixie.
 Uploaded Opal ran out in the rain to look for Winn-Dixie! He is scared of storms. Where is he?
 Uploaded Preacher and Opal walked through town. They looked for Winn-Dixie. They called his name. Winn-Dixie! Winn-Dixie!

 Uploaded 1) He is afraid of storms, 2) He smiles, 3) He runs fast, 4) He snores, 5) He catches mice,
 Uploaded 6) He likes people, 7) He likes peanut butter, 8) He doesn’t like to be alone
 Uploaded 9) He likes to sleep on the couch, and 10) He likes to go to church.
 Uploaded They can’t find Winn-Dixie. Opal is crying. Preacher is crying. They are sad about many things.
 Uploaded Preacher tells Opal he loves her. And he loves Winn-Dixie. Preacher is very happy he has Opal.
 Uploaded Preacher and Opal go back to Gloria’s house without Winn-Dixie. They hear Otis playing the guitar.
 Uploaded They go into Gloria’s house. There is Winn-Dixie! He is under a chair. He is safe!
 Uploaded Gloria says that Winn-Dixie was under a bed. He sneezed! They all heard the sneeze. They found him.
 Uploaded Winn-Dixie is safe! Opal is happy. She loves Preacher. She calls him Daddy now.
 Uploaded Opal has a lot of friends. Opal isn’t lonely anymore. And it was because of Winn-Dixie.
